firehydrantArgo Fire & Rescue will be conducting regularly scheduled Fire Hydrant maintenance starting this April and going through July. This includes testing of all fire hydrants, which involves flowing all of our hydrants so that we can obtain the different pressure readings that are needed. Please be advised that this testing may cause some temporary discoloration of the water in your homes. This is normal and in no way harmful. We do however recommend running water till clear before doing laundry should you note any discoloration in your home water.

The Argo Fire and Rescue Service has met the needs of our community since 1987. It is committed to continued expansion of its services as the needs of our city grow. The department currently operates three fire engines and a brush truck unit from two stations and offers paramedic advanced life support and fire service to the community 24 hours per day, 7 days per week with two fire fighters on duty per shift. Due to your generosity and that of others like you, the department has until now been able to maintain this level of service over past years. Presently the department continues to have an ISO (homeowners insurance) Rating of 4. This low rating (low is good in this instance) is reflected in the premiums that each of us as homeowners pay for the insurance coverage on our homes.

turnouts

In 2010 the Argo Fire Department applied for a turnout gear grant through the assistance to fire fighters grant program. This grant was approved in March of 2011 for the amount of $76,432.00 to purchase personnel protective gear.

The gear was purchased through the bid process and received in August of 2011. The new turnout gear replaced our old and worn out gear. Now our fire fighters are protected with the new NFPA compliant turnout gear.
