Q         Where is Argo Fire Department located?


A         Argo Fire Department currently has 2 stations. Our main station is at town hall, which is located at 100 Black Jack Road .


Q         Is Argo Fire & Rescue a volunteer or a paid fire department


A         Argo Fire & Rescue is considered a combination fire department. This means that we have both, paid and volunteer personnel.


Q         How do I become a volunteer firefighter?


A         If you would like to become a volunteer firefighter with Argo Fire & Rescue, just stop by the fire station one day and pick up an application. You can also check out the page on this website.


Q         Can I burn trash, brush, or other materials on my property?


A         The City of Argo does allow residents to burn brush on their property. However in order to do this, you must obtain a burn permit which can be filled on this website, and also abide by all the regulations that are listed on the burn permit. If a no burn is issued, burn permits will not be given.


Q         Why does the fire engine respond when a request is made for an ambulance for a medical emergency?


A         All Fire Department personnel are medically trained and will often arrive before an ambulance.  The firefighters will arrive and begin treatment immediately, often resulting in a better outcome for the patient.  In a more complicated medical emergency, the Fire Department personnel may be needed to assist the Paramedics on the ambulance during transport.  Our Fire Department is committed to providing the highest level of care possible and this means getting the emergency responders on scene as quickly as possible.  


Q         How often do I need to change the battery in my smoke detector?


A         We recommend that residents change the batteries in smoke detectors every six months. A good time to change the batteries is during the spring and fall time changes. 

Q         Does the Fire Department rescue cats from trees?


A         No, unless we are requested by animal control for assistance.

A         We are more than happy to give your group a tour of the fire station. Just call us to schedule an appointment and we can work out the details.

Q         Do you charge Fire Dues?


A         No. But we accept donations which make up a large portion of our operating budget.
