Chief Mike Platts Bio

 Chief Platts

Chief Mike Platts has been with Argo Fire and Rescue since May of 1991, when he started out as one of the department’s volunteers.  He has since progressed through the ranks and was promoted to Deputy Fire Chief in March of 1998.  As Deputy Chief he was heavily involved in day to day operations of the department and played an instrumental role in turning the all volunteer department into a combination department which included volunteers as well as paid personnel.

In May of 2000 he was promoted to the position of Fire Chief, for the Town of Argo.  As Fire Chief, he has taken great strides in improving the fire protection for the citizens of Argo.  Chief Platts has accomplished this by addressing key areas such as adding personnel, encouraging daily and monthly training, and purchasing much needed equipment.  These actions were noted when Argo Fire Department’s ISO rating improved from a 6/9 to a 4/9, which was among the best in the area, and helped the citizens of Argo, by lowering their cost of homeowners insurance.

Chief Platts is a Firefighter and EMT-Paramedic, and has numerous certifications in such areas as Fire Ground Operations, Hazardous Materials, and National Incident Management System. Mike and his wife, Cindy, reside in Argo along with their children.
